Low energy electron accelerators with low penetration voltages (<kV) are now being effectively applied to sterilize product and packaging surfaces in accordance with the ISO 11137 radiation sterilization guidance document. The dosimetry requirements for low energy electron applications such as this are more complex than dosimetry performed using higher voltages or highly penetrating radioisotopes such as 60Co or 137Cs.
