Polymer modification using ionizing radiation to crosslink polymers for product enhancement is a long established application that requires a dosimetry solution to measure process performance to characterize or validate the system and products. Electron beam accelerators have been designed that deliver low energy electrons (80 keV to 300 keV) for crosslinking applications including crosslinking of thin films as well as machines that deliver higher energy electrons to treat thicker products that include wire and cable, pre-treatment curing of rubber for tires, and other large-scale industrial polymerization applications.
